My family loves pizza. So, I am excited to partner with Fleischmann’s Pizza Crust Yeast to bring you this quick, family friendly recipe. As always, while I may have been compensated for this post, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
We used to have bi-weekly pizza nights where we would get together and make homemade pizza with toppings of our choice. Even then, I was always nervous about making the crust so I would buy dough from the store. Of course, that dough requires time to rise and so I always had to make sure I planned ahead. We stay pretty busy right now so that planning ahead part isn’t usually in the cards and we end up with pre-made pizza crust instead. This 20 minutes mummy pizza changed that for good!
When I was talking with Fleischmann’s about their pizza crust yeast, I will totally admit that I was nervous. There is definitely a reason you don’t see very many homemade bread or pizza crust recipes here on the blog. I don’t have a lot of experience with it and there is this total fear in the unknown a lot of times. Plus, there is usually the time to rise and that is time I don’t have. Well, with the pizza crust yeast, there is no rising or wait time. You literally go from mixing to kneading to baking. We are talking 5 minutes to the perfect pizza crust ready for your toppings.
What You’ll Need:
1 packet of Fleischmann’s Pizza Crust Yeast
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup very warm water {aim for about 130 degrees}
3 Tbsp oil
1/2 – 1 cup pizza sauce {depending on your preference}
8-10 mozzarella string cheese, cut into small strips
2-4 sliced black olives
Let’s Make It:
1) Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray a pizza pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2) In a large bowl, combine pizza crust yeast, 1 cup flour, water and oil. Stir until combined. Slowly add in additional 1/2 cup flour and mix until dough ball forms.
3) Turn dough ball out onto lightly floured surface and knead, with floured hands, for about 4 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Roll into a 12 inch circle and place in prepared pizza pan.
4) Top dough with pizza sauce, spreading evenly over the crust. Place olives where you want the eyes to go. Using the string cheese pieces, build a mummy “wrap” around the eyes and on the rest of the pizza.
5) Bake pizza in 425 degree oven for 12-15 minutes.
So, 20 minutes to a homemade pizza…unbelieveable right?! The dough was so easy to make and it really eased my fears of dealing with yeast {be warned: you might actually see a bread around here now}. Plus, my family loved the cute mummy pizza for Halloween that I made.
Although, I might be a little worried now that I have a ghost in my house because I turned around to move something and came back to find this
