So, I’m back from Utah and am still not fully recovered from the conference. I feel like I could probably sleep for days if that was possibly an option!
Snap was held at Thanksgiving Point in Utah and, along with it being my first conference, it was also my first time in Utah!
The mountains were gorgeous but the weather was crazy!
I was shocked to still be experiencing 40 degrees temperatures in late April!
I wanted to share with a few of the highlights of Snap for me!
1) Meeting amazeballs bloggers! Seriously, Snap is full of all the bloggers you love and read constantly plus so many more. I roomed with three girls totally outside of my niche and it was tons of fun because it opened me up to meeting even more people and finding new blogs.
2) Sessions that will blog your mind! The speakers for the s sessions were incredible and filled with so much good information. I have like an entire notebook full of great notes + the powerpoints from the classes to go through. It was so much great information. It was also varied so there was something for everyone when it came to picking a session. I had trouble deciding between a few of them though!
3) Fun, fun, fun! Like anything, conferences are what you make of them. I love meeting new people so I had a great time talking about different topics with {up until now} random strangers. In addition to the conference activities like the pajama craft party and the closing party, there were lots of other times to either just hang out or do some exploring in SLC.
4) Total inspiration to go back home and be awesome! The inspiration that you get from hearing the speakers and networking with other bloggers can’t be topped. You learn so much about ways to improve your blogging even from simple, casual conversations.
And now, a few lessons:
1) Consider breaking out of your niche when picking roomies. Sure it is fun to room with a blogger you know and love. That is awesome. BUT, you’ll meet a ton more people if you are rooming with someone in a totally different niche who has their own set of connections. It really helps the networking/connection pool grow and grow.
2) If you want to connect with sponsors, do the sponsor room the first day. I focused a lot on session and so didn’t make it over to the sponsor room until the last day. I was so bummed to see that a lot of the sponsors were already packed up. It was a huge missed opportunity for me to connect with some brands that I have tremendous respect for.
3) It is ok not to go to a session in every time slot or attend every activity Some times we all need a little downtime and it is totally fine to take that time whenever you need it. You might even meet some new people that way because they’ve skipped sessions too.
4) A battery charger is worth its weight in gold. Before I came to Snap!, I got a portable charging station from Jackery to help keep my electronics charged throughout the day. We were always tweeting, instagramming and posting on Facebook during sessions throughout the day so the Jackery bar was a HUGE life saver.
Have you been to any blog conferences? Do you have any planned for this year? I hear they are already starting the planning for Snap 2014 and I can’t wait!
