Food for July 4th parties can be so fun to make! Get the kids involved and make these Red, White and Blue Firecrackers using only marshmallows and candy! These Red, White and Blue chocolate dipped marshmallow pops are so festive and fun to make, everyone will have a blast!
I love entertaining! Holidays for me mean a time to get family and friends together and share a meal. Of course, for most holidays, I like to coordinate the food with the occasion. When thinking about food for July 4th, I wanted something fun that the kids could also help with.
Before we get started, I will mention that this is a blast to get kids involved with BUT it can get kind of messy with little hands helping. Just keep lots of wipes and paper towels on hand when you are doing it. Have fun with it though 🙂
What You’ll Need:
– 1-2 bags of large marshmallows
– 2 bags blue wilton candy melts
– 2 bags red wilton candy melts
– lollipop sticks
– wax or parchment paper.
Let’s Make It:
1) Pick which color you want to start with {I did blue} and melt some of the candy melts according to the package directions. DO NOT MELT IT ALL AT ONCE but do it in smaller batches.
2) Stick a marshmallow onto a lollipop stick and dip into the melted candy, twirling to coat. Place on wax paper to set. Repeat for the number of pops you want for both the red and blue candy.
NOTE: I used lollipop sticks for my red ones too because it created a hole in the marshmallow making it easier to add to the single stick later. You can always skip that part if you would rather conserve lollipop sticks.
3) Once all of the marmallows are set well, thread them onto lollipop sticks in the following order: blue {bottom}, white {middle}, red {top}.
I did this by sliding my blue ones down {carefully} and then adding the other two colors.

Such a fun Idea. Last year I did something similar to this except I used jello. It was such a hit, I think the chocolate would be even better though!

Hi, just wondering how you stored these? Do they need to be refrigerated? We will be driving a few hours on the 4th. Should I keep them in a cooler? Thanks!
Shannah says
I did not put them in the fridge. If you put them in the fridge, it may actually melt them faster once you take them out. If it is going to be really hot on your trip, a cooler would be good though. They don’t need to be kept cold but out of direct heat is a good idea.
