Back during our trip to Vegas, we ordered some fried pickles and I instantly fell in love. Yes, I am aware that pickles are old news but I never claimed to be trendy. Of course, once I got home, I wanted some fried pickles that didn’t require me to travel most of the way across the country to get them. So, I tested out a few recipes at home and came up with the ultimate recipe for spicy beer battered pickles. Yep…pickles…jalapenos…beer…all together in one awesome snack!
You could easily make these as spears as well but I love the little slices. They are just too fun to dip and eat as an appetizer or snack. Oh, speaking of dips, you HAVE to try this cilantro lime dip! It is the perfect thing for dipping these pickles in because the pickles have a little spice to them that the creamy dip helps cool down in your mouth. Yummy!
- 1 jar pickle slices
- 1 egg
- 12 oz beer
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 2 jalapenos seeded
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- Oil for frying
-
In a food processor, pulse the jalapeno until liquefied. Add the egg and pulse to combine.
-
In bowl, combine egg mixture, beer, baking powder and salt. Whisk to combine.
-
Stir in flour.
-
Drain pickles and soak up any excess moisture on paper towels.
-
In a deep stockpot, add 1-2 inches of oil and heat over medium-high heat.
-
Dip pickle slices in batter letting excess drain off. Working in batches, place battered pickles in hot oil for about 3 minutes per side. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
As you continue to cook batches, they may cook faster than 3 minutes because the oil is getting hotter. Reduce the cooking time or lower the heat a little bit.
These pickles are seriously one of my new favorite things! I have even tossed them in the oven on a preheated pan when I didn’t feel like going through the frying motions. Of course, the dipping sauce shown in the pictures is a must so be sure to make that along with these amazing spicy beer battered pickles.
What is your favorite way to enjoy pickles? Have you ever tried them fried?

Haha…me too! I was just craving them for lunch. My tuna sandwich was not nearly as good.
