Washi Tape Magnets {Guest Post}

While I adore being a wife and mom, I also have an insatiable need to create! I love figuring out how to make beautiful things – even if it means firing up a few power tools. And I am all about finding ways to create exactly what I want for as little money as possible. I usually have at least five or six DIY projects going on at any one time and they are pretty much guaranteed to involve an awesome yard sale find, my trusty jigsaw, or my vast collection of turquoise paints.

I have a super simple, fast, and inexpensive project to share today – which is basically the best kind of project!

I try to keep my fridge clear of random papers, but inevitably, reminders, invitations and other random papers end up getting stuck all over it. Eventually, I stopped fighting it. But I did decide that if I am going to have random papers all over our fridge, I would like to at least have some cute little magnets to stick everything up with!

I’m a little bit in love with arrows right now and they seemed like the perfect choice for some DIY magnets. These are so simple to make. All you need is washi tape, a magnet sheet, and an x-acto knife and cutting mat.

For anyone who doesn’t know, washi tape is amazing! It comes in a million and one gorgeous patterns and colors for only a couple of bucks a roll. You can stick it just about anywhere just like regular tape, but it’s removable. So if you decide to decorate something with your washi tape but then get tired of it, you can just peel off the tape…without harming most surfaces. Genius!

Roll out strips of washi tape onto the magnet sheet. To make wider magnets, just roll out two strips side by side.

Cut the strips apart and then cut them into arrow shapes. I prefer an x-acto knife and cutting mat for this because you can cut along a ruler or straight edge for super straight lines. But if you don’t have an x-acto knife and cutting mat on hand, scissors work just fine too.
