There is a lot of work that goes into making homemade treats! Your significant other would be very impressed with these Red Velvet Oreo Truffle Hearts!
Need a simple but amazingly delicious dessert recipe for Valentine’s Day? These Red Velvet Oreo Truffle Hearts are perfect. They make a fantastic gift or make them for yourself to enjoy.
I am really excited to share this recipe with the Just Us Four readers today! I love making Oreo Cookie Truffle Balls, but I thought it would be fun to mix things up for Valentine’s Day and make some Red Velvet Oreo Truffle Hearts!
There are a little time consuming, but totally worth it. I ended up bringing all my goodies to a Super Bowl party on Sunday and they were gone before half time! This oreo truffles recipe are a total win!
My husband and I don’t usually do that much for Valentine’s Day, but I think making a treat at home can really say a lot about caring. You have to take the time to make it, and there is a lot of work that goes into making homemade treats!
I think your significant other would be very impressed with these Red Velvet Oreo Truffle Hearts because they are a simple dessert recipe that look like they came from a bakery!
By mixing the Oreo filling with the red velvet cake filling, it made the perfect blend of chocolatey red velvet. If you want to make these for another occasion or party, simply roll them into balls and dip them into the chocolate that way! No need to make them into hearts if you aren’t cooking them for Valentine’s Day!

Essential items for this recipe:
- 9×13 Baking pan
- Stand mixer
- Food processor
- Cookie sheet
- Heart shaped cookie cutters
- 1 box red velvet cake mix and ingredients to make it
- 1/2 box oreo cookies processed into crumbs
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- 1/2 container cream cheese frosting
- 1 package white chocolate bark/candy coating chocolate
- 1 package milk chocolate bark/candy coating chocolate
-
Prepare red velvet cake mix according to instructions (using 9x13 pan). Cool completely.
-
In a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or using your hands, combine half of the cake (break into pieces) and the cream cheese frosting; mix until combined. Set aside.
-
In your food processor, combine Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese. Mix well. Using a spatula, add Oreo cookie mixture to red velvet cake mixture; stir well to combine.
-
Place mixture into the freezer for 20-30 minutes.
-
Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper, set aside. Remove mixture from freezer and taking chunks at a time, press out to about a 1/2 inch layer.
-
Using heart shaped cookie cutters (I used various sizes), cut heart shapes out of the mixture. Set heart shapes onto the cookie sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
-
Place cookie sheet into freezer and allow to freeze for at least 2 hours (I usually just let them go overnight).
-
Melt white chocolate according to package directions. In a separate bowl, melt milk chocolate according to package direction.
-
Take each heart shape, place into chocolate of choice, coat well, let excess chocolate drip off, and then set back onto parchment. Repeat until all hearts are covered.
-
Using remaining chocolate, drizzle contrasting colors over the chocolate covered hearts.
-
Serve and enjoy!
Thanks for visiting!

I just recently made candy for the first time. Chocolate covered cherries and truffles. I’m kind of loving it. Way easier than I thought. Thanks for the recipe. I’m rounding up a few more recipes to try. Pinned for later.

YUM! I actually shared my recipe for Red Velvet Oreo Truffles as well. My recipe is a little more simplified, it seems. I just use oreos (red velvet in this case) and cream cheese; and of course covering it in chocolate. I’d love to try out your recipe though. I’m loving all the cream cheese-y goodness going on in this recipe!
