During this time of year, between the hustle and bustle of getting to a million events and ready for the upcoming holidays, I like to carve out time to spend with family. This may be something as simple as a family walk in the afternoon or huddling around the TV for a football game. Of course, if we are going to watch football, we need food and that means I cook up some of my favorite Tequila Limón wings
These wings are the perfect combination of spice and the freshness of citrus. You can easily use frozen or fresh wings to make these. The sauce is where you get all of the flavor. I use Clamato® Limón as the base for my sauce and it is so good at making the wings perfectly tangy.
Ingredients for Tequila Limón Wings:
3 lbs chicken wings
Sauce:
1 cup Clamato® Limón
4 Tbsp tomato paste
1/4 cup Thai chili sauce
1/4 cup tequila
2 Tbsp lime juice
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp lime zest + more for garnish
Let’s Make It:
1) Line a rimming baking sheet with foil. Place in oven. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2) In a saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
3) Place chicken wings on hot pan. Bake in oven for 10 minutes. Brush with sauce. Return to oven and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
4) Broil chicken wings for 5 minutes to crisp skin. Remove from oven and brush with additional sauce. Garnish with lime zest.
I serve the wings with a side of cilantro lime ranch or blue cheese. It makes the perfect pairing for the tangy wings.
