This past weekend, we held our first big BBQ of the season to celebrate Memorial Day. Over the years since Mathlete and I have been together, we’ve hosted tons of parties and outdoor BBQs are my absolute favorite. BBQs are always the perfect time to bring out delicious recipes like mixed summer fruit salad for your guests, and their kids especially, to enjoy!
We’ve learned a lot along the way and find different perfect BBQ ideas each year it seems. This year, we definitely learned two big lessons: 1) move the grill away from the house the first time you turn it on for the season because it is likely that a grease fire might occur and 2) be sure to have lots of drink options for everyone to enjoy. In addition to our standard drink offerings this year, we added Milo’s Cafe Style Tea to the menu.
I found Milo’s Cafe Style Tea in the refrigerated juice and dairy section of our Walmart while I was out shopping for party supplies. With flavors like sweet tea, light sweet tea, green citrus and light green citrus, I had a variety to choose from. The teas are fresh brewed, all natural teas so they have no preservatives, additives or acids. The light versions include a blend of organic cane sugar and stevia for the perfect amount of sweet. The teas are so delicious that you won’t need to add anything to them besides a straw!
While everyone was sipping on their tea, I got the all of the food, like my mixed summer fruit salad, ready to enjoy.
Mixed Summer Fruit Salad Ingredients:
2 pints blueberries
1 pineapple, cut into small chunks
1 small seedless watermelon, cut into small chunks
1/4 cup fresh mint, finely chopped
3 Tbsp apple or pineapple juice
Let’s Make It:
In a large bowl, combine blueberries, pineapple and watermelon.
In a small bowl, whisk together mint and apple or pineapple juice. Pour over fruit and gently stir to combine. Refrigerate until ready to eat.
This salad, combined with the delicious and refreshing Milo’s Cafe Style teas definitely were a hit at our BBQ for Memorial Day. I am looking forward to enjoying both at future outdoor parties throughout the summer too.
