Just about every weekend during the fall is spent watching sports. Whether we are tailgating at the stadium before a game or chilling in the theater area of our basement, it is all sport all the time. Of course, no sports watching is complete without the perfect munchies to enjoy. Mini chili cheese dogs are the absolutely perfect little small bite for any of your sport watching events.
While these mini chili cheese dogs are amazing alone, they make the perfect dipper for Heluva Good! Dips like Buttermilk Ranch or White Cheddar & Bacon. Heluva Good! Dip is all made with real sour cream and flavorful spices which provides the ultimate snacking experience no matter the occasion. And while we love a good chip and dip combination, we like to think outside the box and serve things like tempura cauliflower or these mini chili cheese dogs as dippers instead of chips.
Ingredients for Mini Chili Cheese Dogs:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 package mini beef hot dogs or sausages
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup hot dog chili
1 egg
1 Tbsp water
Let’s Make It:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll puff pastry out to smooth out the folds. You do not need to make it thinner. Cut into strips and then cut each strip into thirds.
3. Spoon a small amount of chili onto each piece of puff pastry. Top with a sprinkle of cheese. Then, place a mini hot dog on top and fold the sides around the top. Place onto prepared baking sheet. Repeat for each mini hot dog.
4. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water. Brush on top of each piece of puff pastry.
5. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or golden browned. Remove from oven and enjoy.
We really loved these mini chili cheese dogs with the Heluva Good! Dip in the Buttermilk Ranch flavor but I bet it would be amazing with several of their different varieties.
