It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of Thai food. From Thai Butternut Squash soup to a host of other things, we eat Thai inspired dishes a lot in our house. Mathlete spends a lot of time begging me to make/eat something other than Thai inspired dishes. So, when I was dreaming up recipes to serve at our upcoming party for the BIG GAME, I knew I wanted to bring a Thai influence into at least one of the game time food options. Our party will be filled with mostly men so I knew French fries would be a hit and decided to make Pad Thai French fries.
Our football fans are passionate about the game and want to keep their eyes on the TV throughout the whole thing. I mean, who wants to miss a commercial or a crucial play and be left out of the Monday morning watercooler chats?! I grabbed a bag of Crinkle Cut fries and Sweet Potato fries to use in this recipe. Both will pair well with the Thai flavors in this dish but I tested with the crinkle cut fries this time around…mostly because Mathlete ate all of my sweet potato fries before I could use them!
I grabbed a bunch of mini casserole style dishes to serve the French fries in so the guys {and girls} can keep them right there in the seat and not miss a moment.
Ingredients for Pad Thai French Fries:
1 bag Crinkle Cut Fries
1/3 cup hoison sauce
2 Tbsp fish sauce
3 Tbsp cilantro
Zest of one lime
1/4 cup crushed peanuts
Thai Peanut Sauce:
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/2 Tbsp red curry paste
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
Let’s Make It:
1) Prepare French fries according to package directions.
2) Meanwhile, mix Hoison sauce and fish sauce together in a small bowl. Set aside.
3) In a small pan, combine peanut butter, coconut milk, red curry paste, and apple cider vinegar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
4) When fries are done, put on plate. Drizzle with hoison sauce mixture and peanut sauce. Top with cilantro, lime zest and crushed peanuts.
I am so excited to make these Pad Thai French fries for our party on the day of the BIG game. What are you planning to make?
