I love spending time with my kids. My daughter has recently been really interested in helping with whatever craft or recipe I am working on and it is so much fun to have her by my side. We were recently given the chance to try out some of the PAAS products for coloring Easter eggs and she was so excited. I bought two and a half dozen eggs (!) and we spent an entire Saturday morning, along with Grandma, coloring them with various PAAS Easter products. Her favorite was the spring silhouette kit and she also had a great time with the monogram kit.
Once we were done with the eggs, she insisted that we create something with them and started raiding my craft closet. The resulting Ombre Easter egg tree was gifted to her American Girl dolls, Grace and Isabelle, and sits proudly in her room.
Now, of course, as a blogger, I was all kinds of worried about how the tree turned out because it wasn’t exactly what I envisioned. I had planned to hang the eggs from a paper mache tree we have. My daughter had already planned out how she wanted to use the eggs though and I was not about to crush that creative spirit. The total delight in her eyes as we worked on it together and she proudly took it upstairs to show her daddy made any bit of apprehension about it not being “picture perfect” disappear. She even staged the tree for photos (#bloggerintraining).
To make the Ombre Easter egg tree, gather a bunch of eggs together. Using the PAAS coloring kits {we used the color cups}, color the eggs in various shades of the same color. To get the lightest colors, just dip your egg and immediately bring it back out. For darker colors, leave the eggs in longer to soak up more of the dye.
Once your eggs are completely dry, wrap a styrofoam cone in ribbon. You could actually skip this step if you are using enough eggs to cover the entire tree but we weren’t so we used a white grosgrain ribbon. Once the tree is fully wrapped, use hot glue to attach your eggs starting with the lightest ones at the top and working your way down.
PAAS wants to see your egg creations and is hosting the ultimate Egg Off Easter Egg Content! You could win $1000 by sharing your Easter egg creations. Get all the details by visiting PAAS on Facebook!
