We are in the last few days of August and with the new month also comes one of our favorite seasons: apple season. As part of the #CreativeBuzz challenge this month, I used my favorite granny smith apples to create an amazing caramel apple parfait. Seriously, this thing is to die for so just get ready to make it now because I know you won’t be able to resist.
One thing I love about making parfaits is how easy they are. Plus, you can make them ahead of time which makes them perfect for a dinner party or a group dessert. For this one, you could easily make it one big bowl like a trifle or separate them out like I did.
What You’ll Need:
1 1/2 cups milk
1 small package vanilla instant pudding
8 oz cool whip
4 Granny Smith apples, chopped
4 cups Milky Way Bites, chopped
Caramel sauce
Let’s Make It:
1) In a large bowl, whisk together milk and pudding. Stir for 2-3 minutes or it starts to thicken. Place in refrigerator of about 15 minutes. Fold in cool whip.
2) Place apple pieces in the bottom of 6 parfait glasses or mason jars. Top with about 1/2 cup of pudding mixture. Add a layer of milky way pieces and drizzle with caramel and more pudding. Repeat the apple and pudding layer. Top with caramel drizzle and 1-2 Milky Way pieces. Refrigerate until ready to eat.
This parfait is one of my favorites because I love caramel apples. You could even use a salted caramel sauce to add a more complex flavor to the dessert. Either way, it is one that you will be making over and over this apple season.
