We’re busy here at the Just Us Four house: school, work, birthday celebrations (Shopaholic’s birthday is the day before mine!) and Valentine’s Day countdowns.
Each one of the little envelopes from our countdown calendar contains a note. Some of the notes are just little phrases but some include activities. Yesterday, we had one that said
I stopped at our favorite store, Wegman’s, on the way home to try and find the perfect “yummy treat” for our mini-celebration. There are so many delicious items that it can be hard to choose.
Our absolute favorite dessert is ice cream though. So, I figured whatever I chose had to have ice cream with it. On my way to the ice cream, the perfect option hit me:
The ice cream cake section was full of delicious cakes.
Of course, I zereod in on the Valentine’s Day related ones: “Lil’Love” and the seasonal heart shaped one.
No sweet treat is complete without some fun extras to go along with it. I wanted to really play up our Valentine’s Day countdown so I headed off to the seasonal aisle to find some extra stuff for our yummy dessert.
I made some quick selections {I was shopping between work and daycare pick up after all} and headed to check out. You can check out more of my shopping trip in my Google+ album to see some more of the great items I had to choose from! It was so hard not to buy everything I saw!
Once I was home, I used the little heart doilies I purchased to make a make shift table runner. Then, I put a larger white doily on my platter and added my cake. Little conversation hearts that match the fun confetti complete the platter.
I set the table with the conversation heart plates and my bright red flatware.
Time for cake! I love how there is chocolate and vanilla in each piece.
The frosting is my favorite part though!
We finished our cake {2 pieces for some of us} and started talking about what tomorrow’s envelope might bring!
Happy {almost} Valentine’s Day! I hope you are having fun counting down like we are.

Yum! I love your Valentine’s Day countdown and that Carvel cake! In our house no home cooked creation will ever compare to a Carvel cake, both my husband and my daughter just LOVE them. Thanks for the reminder that I should seriously consider picking one up sometime soon…just because.
