It’s time to check out some of the amazing projects linked up at last week’s Pinworthy Projects Party.
With July 4th coming up next week, these free printable 4th of July Pinwheels {with instructions!} linked up by Nifty Thrifty Things are perfectly timed.
Want some more patriotic decorations? Check out this festive garland linked up by Raining Jelly Beans.
Now, while you are outside BBQ-ing for the holiday, you might consider where in your space you could put this DIY outdoor bar from Turtles and Tails.
I keep searching everywhere for a card catalog but have come short for ones that don’t cost $$$. West Furniture Revival did an amazing transformation to this card catalog.
I have birthday parties on the brain (from now until mid-August!) so this DIY cupcake stand, from Chase the Stars, caught my eye.
And to give me another reason why I should learn to sew, Raising Bean linked up this adorable tie back top for her little girl.
And the project with the most clicks {totally understand why!} is…
Vintage Gwen’s craft room reveal.
Thanks to everyone who linked up last week!
I hope to see you back here again tomorrow morning (10am ET) for another fun Pinworthy Projects Party!

Ok, I’m back and ready to eat…er, cook. Ok, maybe a little of both!
Let’s take a look at some yummy ideas for this week.
[Mother Thyme], [Smitten Kitchen], [A Bountiful Kitchen] |
Sunday: I didn’t get nearly enough seafood while away at the beach so I am putting grilled buffalo shrimp po boys first on my list!
Monday: Meatless Monday’s main veggie this week is found in broccoli parmesan fritters.
Tuesday: How about some good ole traditional beef tacos for an easy weeknight meal?
[Blog Chef], [Eat 8020], [Taste and Tell], [Bella Eats] |
Wednesday: The weather is really beautiful and perfect for giving my new grill a workout. Tonight, I’m going to give chicken Monterey a try.
Thursday: Speaking of grilling, I would have never thought to try this but grilled pasta packets sound like an awesome idea.
Friday: Let’s end the work week with an easy to make Italian style monte cristos.
Saturday: Some nights I just love a good pasta dish like pasta with Portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions and chevre.
So, what is on your list for this week? Got a new recipe I need to try? I’d love to hear about it if so.

So, I don’t think anyone has any illusions about what people do in bathrooms. Well, between showers and dropping kids in the “pool”, a bathroom really needs an exhaust fan. Well, our basement bathroom just got one…or at least the beginning of one!
Say it with me now…oooooh…..ahhhhh.
Mathlete started with the exhaust piece and connected it with screws to the ceiling studs.
Then, using tape, he connected the ducting to the fan piece.
From there, the actual parts that carry the steam and stink outside is connected.
It all connects to this part that Mathlete installed back in March.
So, now, we can actually use the bathroom and not worry about the steam building up and causing mildew (or the smell building up and causing someone to pass out).

As I was making the Mexican bean salad for the shower the other day, I thought about how easy single servings would be for party guests to take things from the buffet back to the table. Chalkboard mason jar lids seemed like the perfect option to make this idea work.
They would also be great to just put at place settings too!
…
Truth:
I have had a TON of them. I always seem to put my foot in my mouth, make hasty decisions only to seriously regret the choices later or do the most embarassing thing at the wrong time. It’s a nifty little gift I have.
Right now, I am currently living in one of my biggest “oh I wish I could do that over moments”.
It is called our house paint. Yep…our house paint.
When we moved in to this house, I was pregnant (5 months) and facing a month without Mathlete as he jetted off to sunny California for a work trip. Needless to say, I was in some serious hormonal overload. Wanting to get the house “perfect” before he left, I quickly selected paint color for every room but one in the entire house. {The one unpainted room is the laundry room no one ever sees.}
Now, two years later as I am truly working to finish each room in the house, I find that my hasty paint selections are something that I wish I could do over. I wish we had lived in the house for awhile and decided based on the feel and flow of the house before choosing the colors on the wall. It isn’t that the colors are bad. They just don’t really fit into the feel I want for this house.
Take our master bedroom for instance {long time readers know this is a real do-over project in the works}…when we moved in, I was so weary from choosing paint colors that, instead of just leaving them white and painting them later, I just said “paint them what they were in the old place”.
So, I ended up with an olive green bedroom
and a dark red bathroom
Yes, this is a picture of our dining room but the colors were the same. |
Not the best when my vision looks a lot more like
I know what you are thinking right now, “It’s only paint”.
True…it is only paint! BUT, especially with two kids and a full time job, finding the time to re-paint can be a real challenge.
Not to mention all the “discussion” {i.e. complaining} that takes place with Mathlete because he is the main painter in our house.
The change in the bathroom took 3 full days to complete {another tip: NEVER paint a room red unless you don’t really want to change it} because we can only work in small snippets. In our bathroom, looking like this for 2-3 days isn’t a big problem but is less than ideal when you are talking about major house areas like the living room or dining room.
So, now you know the dark secret of our house! The paint colors {well, most of them anyways} account for my biggest “do over” moment to date. Give me time, though. I am sure I can top this one 😉
Do you have a moment {or maybe a bunch?} that you wish you could just do over?
From Frigidaire: The Frigidaire Gallery™Dishwasher gets dishes fully cleaned the first time, so there are no dish do-overs. Nearly half of adults admit to re-washing and/or re-drying dishes after the dishwasher cycle has been completed. To prevent dishwasher do-overs, Frigidaire® is stepping in with its new Gallery® Dishwasher featuring the OrbitCleanTM Wash Arm, ensuring dishes are cleaned right the first time.
