Delicious Recipes to Keep my Family of Four Happy and Full
{You may remember her from our cradat back in October}. Liz is having baby #2 in August and we are thrilled for her and her family!
Now, the deets of this shower will come in a series of posts because I have a lot to share.
Today, let’s talk about party prep: favors!
I was cruising around Etsy one day and came across the most adorable little favor tags.
[BabyBinkz] |
I knew the theme was set the moment I laid eyes on them. They are simply too cute for words.
Then, I found some adorable little favor bags too which sealed the deal.
[Little Chicklets] |
Once I had the container and the tag, I just needed to figure out what to put in them. This became the tough part because I didn’t want to get something I didn’t think anyone would actually want or use.
You know the say, “If you don’t know what to do with it, put a bird on it”. Well, it became: “put a bird in it” for me!
I was at Party City one day and saw these adorable little owl candles
They were the perfect size and oh so cute. I grabbed those and some little mints with baby feet on them and hit the check out line.
I put all the items in the little pouches and tied the favor tags to the top.
All set and ready to go!
Once at the party, I put a little pouch at each person’s seat.

Isn’t it funny how the month of June hits and all of sudden everything gets busier? Crazy how that happens.
Here is a quick photo glimpse of what has been going down in our neck of the woods during May and early June.
There was festival #1 which a yearly Memorial Day tradition for us
And, festival #2…a little closer to home!
We also spent some time sleeping in the car…
Making and eating food for cook-outs…
And eating lots of cheerios.
We rounded out the month of May/started June with H’s first dance recital.
Bring on summer!

Last week was another great party! 85 awesome projects were linked up…a new record.
Let’s take a look at some of the features.
I love the look of coffee filter wreaths. Check out this great one linked up from Random Bits.
Spring/Summer planting is in full force. Check out this topsy turvy planter that Kimberly, from Tiaras and Bowties, linked up.
Sarah, from Alderberry Hill, proved yet again that spray paint is a wonderous thing with her spray painted mason jars.
I’ve been eyeing my kitchen table for a change recently. This DIY farmhouse table really caught my eye as an option!
As we work on finalizing our playroom, I am always drawn to unique storage ideas like this merry go round book shelf from One Dog Woof.
With Memorial Day just passed and July 4th coming soon, this patriotic wreath looks like a fabulous option for the front door.
Check out this beautiful ruffle dress that Jamie, from Scattered Thoughts of a SAHM, shared.
Need a sweet treat? Check out these amazing looking smores cookies from the Winthrop Chronicles.
And the link with the most click this week was…the kitchen printables from Little Corbin Hill.
I hope you will come back tomorrow and link up your newest projects and recipes.

It is Wednesday again! You know what that means…FOOD!
Let’s take a look at what I have on my must make list this week 🙂
[Eat Yourself Skinny], [Skinny Taste], [Sweet Basil] |
Sunday: I love cooking shrimp during the summer. They cook so quickly and taste really fresh. Lemon garlic shrimp with chickpeas sounds like a fantastic option to try.
Monday: Meatless Monday returns with a spicy black bean burger. It has a yummy chipotle mayo too!
Tuesday: Oh, the idea of grilled flank steak with mango sounds delicious on a warm summer evening!
[Gluesticks], [The Kitchn], [Tidy Mom], [Dixie Delights] |
Wednesday: Cilantro lime pesto burritos: A unique idea and sounds like a tasty one…especially when everyone knows I can’t resist a good tex mex meal.
Thursday: Stir fry is another favorite on hot days because it cooks up so quickly which helps keep the house from really heating up. I think I’ll ease back into my stir frying with a simple chicken stir fry.
Friday: Bathing suit weather is here which means lighter eating around our house {at least for me}. Cannellini tuna salad sounds like a refreshing and light dinner choice.
Saturday: We go to {and host a fair share} of BBQs during the summer months. I fell in love with the idea of mason jar BBQ “sundaes” and figure I should give them a test drive before taking them to an event.
What is on your cooking list this week? Breaking out the grill a lot more or still sticking to cooking in doors?

I’m sure that will get tweaked a bit {a lot} between now and when it is finished but it is a great starting point.
I am especially excited about adding in the folding desk/storage area to give me a bigger space for large projects. I found the idea over on Bubblewrapp’d. Check hers out…

Remember when I painted my kitchen spoon?
That turned into a full on “decorate all the wooden utensils in the kitchen” exercise. Well, not really {yet}. But it did spark an idea for a Mother’s Day gift for Junior.
I bought a set of bamboo kitchen utensils and prepared to get my decorate on
I got some paint and washi tape together.
I taped the spoons off where I didn’t want a specific paint color and got busy. I just sort of randomly decided where to paint as I went along.
After they were dry, I used washi tape and finished the decorations.
I put a quick coat of acrylic on the top to keep the paint from chipping or coming off when washed and they were ready to go.
What have you been painting or washi-ing recently?
