One of my favorite things this time of year is getting the mail. Why? Christmas cards! We are so fortunate to have friends and family who take the time to send us a card each year. So, of course, we want to display them! This year, I decided to make a Christmas Card holder.
The supplies:
First up, paint the unfinished backless wood frame.
…
I’m back! Did you miss me? I missed you guys and our weekly food session. So, let’s not delay and get right to it.

Sunday: It is Christmas day! If your family is like mine, that means a big Christmas feast. We started making thyme and spiced rubbed beef tenderloin a few years ago and it just became our go to each and every year.
Monday: Time to relax after all of the fun Christmas festivities. In my household, that means after Christmas shopping! I’ll throw together Bok Choy stir fry for a quick and easy meatless monday meal.
Tuesday: {not pictured} Time for our Mexican meal of the week: Chicken and black bean stuffed burritos.
Wednesday: Let’s give the slow cooker a little workout and make slow cooker garlic chicken. Yum!

Thursday: The winter weather is in full force around here so beef stew with beans sounds like a hearty, warm me up kind of meal.
Friday: I love soup. Mathlete and I often talk about whether it is really a “meal” but I think butternut squash soup with chorizo sounds like a satisfying meal for sure.
Saturday: I’m obviously in a soup mood because I pulled chicken chili for this week too. This recipe looks very easy too which will be great!

H loves snowglobes! It doesn’t really matter what it inside, she just loves to turn them upside down and watch the snow fall. So, I thought it would be fun to make a snowglobe {of sorts} with her. Ours would be waterless though!
Off to the store we went for our supplies. We picked up a large jar, a snowman ornament and some fake snow.
First, we used some hot glue to secure the snowman to the lid of the jar.
Then, we put our snow into the glass portion of the jar.
We actually ended up taking the snow back out and make it smaller because we felt like it was way too big for the size of our jar.
Now, screw the lid on the jar
And flip it over. Instant {waterless} snow globe.
H has so much fun turning him back and forth to watch the snow fall. Now, if only we could get {a little} snow of our own…

I was running errands and prepping for our annual Christmas party, when I pulled into the driveway and noticed my large lanterns on the front porch were empty. Uh-oh!
I ran into the house and raided my supplies to find something I could quickly put together to fill the lanterns. Thankfully, I had been to Ikea recently and picked up two large red candles
Since it is Christmas, I also had a bunch of peppermint sticks. So, I decided the easiest thing would be to put them around the candle. Not wanting the hot glue to melt the candle, I first pinned a strip of red ribbon around the middle of the candle.
I unwrapped all of my little peppermint sticks.
Then, I hot glued them onto the ribbon around the candle.
I grabbed some extra ribbon and little mini ornaments to complete the project.
I simply tied the ribbon around the middle of the candle and covered the bottom of the lantern with the ornaments.
A quick 10 minute project squeezed in before the big party so that our front porch wasn’t bare! Just make sure, if you do something like this, your project is protected from the rain/snow so your sticks don’t wither away.

If you follow me on Facebook, you probably know that I got new toy recently…a Silhouette Cameo.
Isn’t it beautiful?!
Now, this was my first Silhouette so I was super excited to get it. {Not that past Silhouette owners probably weren’t excited too.} My first undertaking was some framed “art” to go above the table in my entry way. Currently, we have some art from Crate and Barrel that I love but, with its bright blues, yellows and greens, it doesn’t really blend with the Christmas decorations. So, I decided to replace it with something a little more seasonal.
…
I have talked before about the challenges of my mantle and fireplace. After managing to decorate the mantle in a way that I actually liked for fall, I was determined to step it up a notch for Christmas too. Of course, you can guess where I turned for ideas: Pinterest. In my search, I found this
