- A one bite dream, these appetizers don’t require any plates or utensils.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Thick cut bacon – Thick cut bacon works best when wrapping the pineapple as it holds it shape better. You can substitute with regular bacon but it may not hold together as well and will require a change in cooking times.
- Pineapple – I used fresh pineapple for this recipe. You can substitute with canned pineapple but be sure to drain it very well and blot with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Brown sugar – Use either light or dark brown sugar.
- Smoked Paprika – This adds just a hint of smokiness to this recipe. You can omit if you prefer.
Steps to Make Bacon Wrapped Pineapple Bites (may contain affiliate links)
I always start a recipe by collecting all of my ingredients and tools. You’ll need to grab a wire baking rack and either a sharp knife or pineapple corer when you are prepping. From there, it is as simple as wrap, dip, and bake!
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the purpose of the wire rack when making this bacon pineapple appetizer? The wire rack allows the bacon fat to drain off below, and it allows the bacon to crisp up better.
- Do I have to use a wire rack for this recipe? You can make this recipe without the wire rack. However, keep in mind that the bacon fat will collect in the baking sheet around the bites. You’ll want to quickly use a spatula to remove them from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels when they’re done to drain off any excess grease.
- Do I have to include the smoked paprika? No, you can omit the smoked paprika or substitute with regular paprika if you prefer.
- Can these be reheated? Yes! While these are best enjoyed fresh, you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Then, reheat in the oven at 350⁰ F for 8-10 minutes.
