Basement Reno: Updates Galore!

It has been a ridiculous amount of time since I have done an basement update. There has been a lot {like a lot, a lot} going on down there too.

Let’s start with the bar where we have cabinet! Mathlete put together all of the Ikea cabinets and our countertop was installed too!

In the bathroom, the vanity, toilet and faucet are all installed too! I could actually take a shower in there except for the fact that we don’t have a shower curtain yet 🙂

Then, there is the subject of paint. After lots of decisions and a bunch of sample boards, we finally decided on paint colors for the space. Here is a look at some of them.

Next update: the railing on the stairs!

    Love your new faucet! I love all of you color choices too! So I have a confession, I totally took a shower tonight in our under construction bathroom with no shower curtain. I would advise against this as I got water everywhere haha! You do what you have to do sometimes :).

Basement Reno: Updates Galore

It has been awhile since I updated you all on our basement progress. We’e been super busy though.

After the space was all framed, it was time to install the insulation.  So, Mathlete suited up to protect himself during the installation.

There was already installation on all of the exterior walls (you can see as the white in the picture above) so we only had to put the installation into the ceiling and any interior walls that we wanted to.  Originally, we had planned to just insulate the walls of the utility room and the ceiling over the theater area.
After listening to the animals kids in our house one day, we ended up insulating the ceiling everywhere and most of the walls to help soundproof the area a bit more.

Once the insulation was up, it was time to drywall!  We went with three different types of drywall: regular drywall, QuietRock for extra soundproofing, and cement board in the bathroom behind the tile.

    Progress is looking good! Our basement reno took a little break for August, but now we’re back at it this weekend I think. Did you guys carry all that drywall into the house yourself? That stuff is heavy! I did about 10 pieces one night with Hubby and then I gave up 🙂
