Let me set the scene for you: It is the day after Christmas. We’re all operating on just a few hours of sleep and our brains are still filled with all the Christmas excitement along with a new list of things to do like returning gifts that are too big or didn’t go over very well.
Then, in the middle of all that, we have to keep our youngest up/wake him up early so that he gets only 4-6 hours of sleep before a doctor’s appointment scheduled for December 26th. Can you imagine keeping this face up until midnight and then getting him up again at 6am?
We rushed off to the doctor’s appointment right on schedule on the 26th. As we get there, he starts to give us “the face.” Moms all around know that face…every kid is different but it is the recognizable signal of “I’m about to blow up my diaper.” Both Mathlete and I look at each and wonder…Did you bring diapers?
Now, I am totally picky about diapers. Pampers are seriously the only thing that doesn’t leak when he goes to the bathroom. We use the Cruisers which recently got a 20% increase in the amount they can hold!
Thankfully, there is a CVS right near the doctor’s office so I knew I could get the Pampers diapers I needed if we were out. Oh, and wipes are always a necessity because “the face” is never wrong about predicting what is to come.
We managed to find exactly one Pampers diaper in the back of my car in the so called “emergency” bag. We took it into the doctor’s office but made a mental note to swing through that CVS on our way home to grab a box of diapers and a package of wipes to replenish the emergency bag.
He may look super innocent but E never fails to give us a major diaper surprise while we are out and about.
Now, it is time to win your own box of diapers and package of wipes so you won’t be caught in a situation like us with no diaper supplies in the car or diaper bag.

We were out of town and I had to change Jack’s diaper in the backseat of the car. He was just a few months old and had clogged tear ducts. As I was changing him he started crying real tears for the first time. I had to pick him up and console him which of course got poop on everything including our clothes and the blanket he was laying on. On top of that as I went to lay him back down he started peeing right into the diaper bag. My mom had to go inside the nearest store to buy a new outfit but they didn’t sell diapers. I had to dry off a diaper the best I could and deal. Let’s just say the shopping trip was cut short.

Last Christmas Eve we were down to 3 diapers (I swear I thought there was a pack in the closet!!) Husband barely caught the stores before they closed and he got the wrong size… too small!!
I learned how to make a diaper out of old receiving blankets that holiday.
