Happy New Year! By now, you have seen the claims that you can shred chicken in your mixer all over the internet. I know that is so 2012 but still an important discovery! I know I saw it on Pinterest and was instantly skeptical. Last year, I did a post all about how I tried it and loved it but the photos were hideous and well, no one really saw it. So, I am kicking off 2014 with a little flashback to 2012 and sharing with you KitchenAid Mixer shredded chicken!…
A Balanced Lifestyle for 2014 #WowThatsGood
Balance…it is my word of the year. A more balanced lifestyle in every aspect is certainly something I am aiming for. BUT, I totally get that my responsibilities aren’t changing. I still have work, the blog, kid’s activities and a host of other items to do which makes the thought of grabbing food from the drive thru so appealing. Instead, I will be seeking out convenient things at the grocery story that will also help me make healthier choices.

A Glimpse: You’ve Been Elfed
In December, Krusteaz hosted a Virtual Baking Event. I had big plans to get all of my favorite people together and make some holiday goodies. Then, life took over! We all had packed schedules and no one could carve out the time to come over and bake. So, I decided to do some baking for them instead!
Cleaning and Cooking in the Kitchen
I love to cook! In fact, if I had my way, I would totally spend all of my free time cooking in the kitchen. I hesitate to call myself a chef though because what I do in the kitchen is definitely more playing than anything of actual skill.
Of course, with playing around in the kitchen, comes a bunch of big messes. I’ve been known to knock over full boxes of quinoa onto the floor or have little pieces of pasta fall onto the floor when I break the spaghetti in smaller pieces for my kids to eat. There is a little corner in my kitchen that gets all the little extras that fall and don’t get noticed because I am focused on the food and not the clean up. Then, when I run the little mini vacuum around the kitchen to do our nightly cheerio pick up, that food just gets bypassed because it is too far in the corner for the little vacuum to reach.

Guest Blogger: Cereal Muffins
No cool story behind these muffins. I woke up one morning and was bored with my breakfast options. I wanted cinnamon chip pancakes, but… eh. I didn’t want oatmeal because no doctoring in the world could get me to choke it down. I kinda wanted cereal, but like Chinese food, I eat it and then I’m hungry 20 minutes later. Then I thought about muffins, but I didn’t want the usual muffin suspects and I wasn’t in the mood to blow 400 calories on cinnamon coffee cake muffins either. A slight dilemma.

Toffee and Chocolate Eggnog Bark
Sweet treats are pretty much all I want during Christmas time. From fudge to cookies to cheesecakes and candies, I just can’t get enough. Another one of my favorites is definitely different kinds of “bark” candy. I was trying to find new flavors to make into bark and that is how this toffee and chocolate eggnog bark was born.
