I was so excited when Shannah asked me to share something on her blog.
I met Shannah when we both competed on One Month to Win It. 🙂

Today I’d love to show you how to make

this cute {you & me} Valentine block.

You’ll need:

mod podge
(Never mind the spray adhesive…I didn’t end up using it for this project.)

Valentine scrapbook paper

paper cutter

paint

ribbon

vinyl lettering

5X7 inch wood block (painted pink)

oval wood plaque (painted white)

(I found my plaque at Walmart for $1.00.)

First cut your scrapbook paper to fit your wood block.

Then mod podge your scrapbook paper onto your wood block. Let dry.

I used Elmer’s glue to glue my oval wood plaque onto the wood block.

Then I applied my vinyl lettering.

FYI: “You” was cut using Hiccups font,

the “&” was cut using High Tower Text font

and the “me” was cut using Monster Paparazzi font.

Then I tied a red ribbon around my block.

There you go! Super easy & cute!

Meet Tonia from The Gunny Sack

Are you loving all of these fabulous ladies who have been sharing projects with you guys this week? I hope so!
Today, I want to introduce you to Tonia from The Gunny Sack! I found her blog through one of the linky parties I like to check out each. She hosts one of her own on Monday too so be sure to check it out!

Hi everyone, my name is Tonia and I blog at The Gunny Sack. I’m excited to be here at Just Us Four! I am a wife and mother of 3 (a teen, a tween and a
youngster). I’m an aspiring photographer and lover of chocolate &
coffee, who enjoys crafting, cooking, DIY and sewing.

On Monday’s, I host a link party called What’s In The Gunny Sack? that I would love for you to join! On Tuesday’s, I try to post a crafty tutorial. Wednesday’s, is for recipes or something food related. On Thursday’s, I will often post something related to kids but am going to try to start posting photography tips that day! On Friday’s, I do Spotlight Friday where I try to place the spotlight on a product or company and on Saturday’s I post the features from that week’s link party. Of course, this is a very loose schedule, with the link party being the only exception, because life is too busy and hectic to be super rigid!

Today I will show you few of the Valentine’s things I’ve done this year:

My favorite project are these Go Ahead BURST By Bubble Valentines. The treat and a message are inside the balloon and the recipient must pop the balloon to get it!

I made these simple Valentine Pencils with my tween.

I hung these hearts that I got on clearance after Christmas in the windows.

And of course, I’ve done some baking! I made Valentine Cookie Sandwiches.

And I made colored sugar that I used to decorate…

…these sugar cookies! I have a few more Valentine ideas but I’m running out of time! What about you? Have you done anything special for Valentine’s Day or is it one of the holidays that you don’t get excited about?

Meet Karah from The Space Between

Today’s guest post comes from another blogger that I adore: Karah from the space between. Last month, she did an awesome feature called Imagine the Possibilities where she managed to hang a gallery wall with only one screw. Awesome, right? My plan to participate went pretty far (I actually got fabric for my curtains) but then got derailed a little bit by an unplanned hospital visit for my mom. The challenge was still awesome though because I did move forward and start working on my project even if I didn’t finish it by the 1/31 “deadline”.

Hello, hello to all of you fine Just Us Four readers!

My name is Karah and I blog at the space between. I e-met Shannah in the beginning of the year when I read her post about the Cayenne Candied Bacon, a perfect Superbowl snack. Seriously?!? Cayenne. Candied. Bacon. YES PLEASE!

And, lucky for me I am a life long fan of these guys and find myself needing a few fun Superbowl snacks. 🙂

I thought I’d share one of my favorite, useful projects for the kitchen today.

Do you have trouble with family members not paying attention to this?

On a few occasions my husband didn’t realize the dishes in the dishwasher were clean. Those occasions occurred at about 5 am in the morning after a 12 hour shift! So this didn’t upset me but I sure wanted to help the situation out!

Welcome the Dishwasher Magnet!

I had actually seen one in a catalog and thought I could my own!

Here’s what I did:

Supplies

Graphic of choice OR you can use the one I made! (below)

Paper of choice or cardstock

Mod Podge

Magnet

Scissors/Hot Glue Gun

Optional: if you use paper to print the graphic on then you’ll need a piece of thin cardboard for sturdiness…I used the piece of cardboard that comes behind a package of scrapbook paper.

Meet Kaysi from Keeping It Simple

This afternoon, Kaysi from Keeping It Simple is here to share a great Valentine’s Day project. I am a HUGE fan of Keeping It Simple. It is usually my go-to blog for anything Silhouette related!

Hi!! My name is Kaysi and I’m from the blog, Keeping it Simple

You can find lots of different kinds of crafts at my blog, home decor, sewing, refashions and more. One thing they have in common, they are very easy and simple! Anyone can make the crafts that I make!

Back in October, I made a Halloween wreath made out of candy corn. I love how it turned out and it was on my door for at least a month and I only lost about 6 candies, so I decided to make one using conversation hearts for Valentine’s Day.

This is how I made it:

1) I took a straw wreath, conversation hearts and electrical tape.

2) I wrapped the tape all around the wreath

3) Then I used hot glue and glued the hearts onto the wreath

4) I alternated the hearts each row

Here’s the whole thing covered. It took three bags (from the dollar store)

5) To protect the candy from the weather, I used a acrylic glaze

6) I sprayed two layers of the glaze onto the hearts.

7) I added some ribbon and hung it on my door

And just like that, I have a fun Valentine’s Day wreath!

Here’s a close up…. no more “call me” hearts now they say “text me”. Ha!

hello everyone! i’m andie from crayon freckles. i’m so excited to be over here for Shannah’s birthday sabbatical…. i am a sahm Christian mom. i home-preschool my 3 year old, Bear.

one of our latest favorite things to do in our house is to make our own playdough. Bear and i made some for the first time last month. since valentine’s day is right around the corner, we made some pink strawberry playdough. here’s the recipe we used… i made it into a little virtual recipe card for all of my fellow pinterest-ers!

the pink nesquik can be taken out and substituted with hot chocolate or a few drops of food coloring to make whatever color playdough you want. once it had cooled off all of the way, Bear and i got out our heart cookie cutters, popsicle sticks, and decorative sequins. and then we made some “cookies” and “cake pops“ with it!

Earrings on a Clip

On Friday, I shared a recent jewelry storage solution I made over at Literally Inspired.

Today, I am going to show you how to make a coordinating solution for earring storage.
Here is what you need:
– Wrapped Artist Canvas
– Paint color(s) of your choice
– Mini clothes pins
– Hot glue gun

First, I picked a paint color that coordinated with my existing necklace storage. I actually used the same blue that will be on the walls in our master bedroom. It is also the same color as the side of the necklace piece.

I painted the entire canvas with the blue paint (2 coats) and let it dry.

I then picked a coordinating color and painted my mini-clothes pins. For those, I picked a green that I had tried out for my master bathroom.

Once they were dry, I just hot glued them onto my canvas. I positioned them across the long side of the canvas to ensure I had plenty of room for my earrings to hang.

A little business (sort of) related stuff to share! Really, it is just stuff that has been on my mind so consider this a Shannah mind dump.

Share the Love
I have loved being introduced to new blogs via sidebars on some of my favorites! So, for the month of February, I am going to run a “Share the Love” promotion. Basically, it is a button swap!
I will reserve 10 spots in my sidebar for my blog friends’ buttons. If you are interested in a spot, reserving one is simple! Have you all noticed some issues with blogger recently? You probably noticed that I changed from embedded comments to a pop-up window. It is only temporary while blogger/google works to fix the problem.
A warning to other bloggers (on blogger) though: If you have embedded comments and someone posts on a blog post, IE users will only see a blank page for that post going forward. Right now, this only affects IE users and only on posts where comments have been made but it is far reaching. It might be worthwhile to check your blog to make sure you aren’t in the same boat I was.
