One of our favorite things about fall is going to the local fall festivals. From kettle corn to candied apples, it is just so much fun enjoying all the delicious food in between hay rides and corn mazes. Now that school has started, our afternoons and evenings are extremely hectic. When we were in California at the end of July, Mathlete and I ate at The Girl and the Fig in Sonoma. For several days before, we had eaten really large meals at different restaurants so we went to dinner that night looking for just a few small items. One of the choice that night was grilled peaches with ricotta. Of course, we had to order it and it was so amazing that I came home determined to recreate the meal at home.

I am having such a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that school starts in just a few short weeks. I’ve been working my way through the school supply list which has me running all over town getting the exact right items from the list. Thankfully, as I plan for back to school lunches, I know I can simply stop at Giant Eagle to get all the items I need to make delicious lunch items like peanut butter and fruit kabobs!

A few years ago, a friend of mine decided to start her own Girl Scout troop. All of the troops in our area were full and had long waitlists and she wanted her daughter to start out as a Daisy. We said yes and it was one of the best decisions. Our troop leader is AMAZING and does so much above and beyond what you expect from a troop leader. In addition to all the badge stuff, she also makes sure to include fun things like an end of the year pool party!
