Between the holidays and then gearing up for major Football games in January and February, March can seem pretty sparse when it comes to activities. Unless, of course, you are a basketball fan! I don’t watch much basketball at all but love a good reason to invite friends over to hang out and a sports game is always a good one. With time being at a premium these days though, I don’t go all out with a full spread and tend to stick to things like pizza and chips with dip. Of course, that doesn’t mean, I just typically flop any old pizza on a plate and go with it. Nope, I find some #NewFavorites, like flavors DiGiorno just introduced, and make them even more delicious with a few extra touches.

My Miele Story
Let me give you a little insight into how I normally spend my late fall/winter {say October through February}: 10-15 doctor’s appointments between my two kids, at least 10 sicks days between the two and lots of tissues, runny noses, and medication to get every one healthy. Oh, add in my normal 5+ sicks days from catching what ever the kids have had and you’ve got a pretty good picture of our winter.
Now, let’s talk about how THIS late fall/early winter has been. Two doctor’s appointments {one for each kid}, zero sicks days for them or me and not one single antibiotic between us all. Yep…not one!
Those doctor’s appointment: one had a cold and one had a something in her eye. The only one of us who got sick was my husband and his was vertigo while we were in NYC.
So, I am sure you are wondering what changed?

My Healthy #BreakfastDelight
This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Jimmy Dean, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #BreakfastDelight http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.
Beep…Beep…Beep. That’s my alarm. What time is it? It is 4:15am which means it is time to get up and ready for work. Yep, you read that right…4:15AM. That gives me exactly 45 minutes to get showered, dressed and out the door.
Why so early? A few years back my office moved locations and I found it was so much better for me to work earlier in the morning than go in at a more regular time of 8:00am. So, I work 6:00am – 2:30pm. That means I eat breakfast when most people are just rolling out of bed and I definitely do not have time {or even want} breakfast before I leave my house at 5:00am. So, I’ve got to find breakfast choices that
– are easy to pack in my lunch bag
– can be prepared with only a microwave
– are healthy
– are delicious
Unfortunately, that isn’t easy to find so I can usually be found eating oatmeal day in and day out. I recently found Jimmy Dean Delights though and my oatmeal consumption has dramatically decreased. There are a ton of delicious options including breakfast sandwiches and French toast. Yes, French toast…with turkey sausage…for under 300 calories. Mouth watering? …
S’Mores Chocolate Smoothie with #TruMoo
Thank you to TruMoo for partnering with me on this recipe. As always, all opinions expressed here are my own. This post is an announcement about the new seasonalChocolate Marshmallow Milk that’s in stores this month only! We can’t wait to try it! For this post TruMoo’s Chocolate Milk was used and is available year-round
We got through a lot of milk here in the Just Us Four house. Like 3+ gallons of milk each week. Chocolate milk is a hot commodity too because we all love it. I was in the store the other day and saw that TruMoo now makes Chocolate Marshmallow milk and it totally got me in the mood for milk and cookies. Even though we are in the middle of the polar vortex, my daughter is still begging for ice cream, milkshakes and other frozen treats so I decided to combine those items and make her a s’mores chocolate smoothie as a treat using the TruMoo Chocolate Marshmallow milk. Sadly, our store was sold out of the Chocolate Marshmallow flavor but we used the regular chocolate this time around. I know this recipe will be even more amazing with the Chocolate Marshmallow version!

How to Get Ready for Gameday with #GameTimeGoodies
The BIG game is this weekend and I know people around the country are getting super exited. Sure, there will be football on but game time brings along so much more like parties with friends, awesome commercials {honestly, the main reason I watch!} and of course: food! Game day food has special place in every man’s heart. Beer, pizza and wings are what first come to mind when you think men and football. 🙂 Of course, many times the women in the house want a little more variety and turn to places like Pinterest to help them find things to serve at the game day party! The problem: those recipes keep them in kitchen instead of mingling at the party.
Well, I’m here to show you how to get ready for gameday so you can stay out of the kitchen this year and in front of the tv 😉…
Get Your Greek On: #TasteOff for Yourself!
Thank you to Yoplait and Linqia for sponsoring this #tasteoff and allowing me to share my honest opinion.
Greek yogurt is a mainstay around here. Between Maya eating it with fruit at breakfast and us using it for my son’s medicine each day, we buy A LOT of Greek yogurt. So, when I had the opportunity to have a taste test between our usual favorite Chobani® and the new Yopliat® blended Greek yogurt, I jumped at the opportunity.

The Perfect Valentine’s Day Dinner at Home #Valentines4All
Ahhh, Valentine’s Day. It is a great day to remind the one that you love exactly how much you love them by spending way too much money on overpriced flowers and a fancy dinner out in a crowded restaurant that is serving ‘eh’ tasting food because the kitchen is just so busy. Of course, you’ll pay double the normal amount for the prix fixe menu because it is a privilege to get less choices and slower service. How about doing something a little different this year and having the perfect Valentine’s Day dinner at home! Yep…at home!

Easy Chicken and Rice Casserole
Remember my goal to eat at home six out of the seven days of the week? Well, we are rocking it! One reason we are doing so well is thanks to some super easy meals that I can prepare and freeze or use shortcut ingredients to throw together fast. This easy chicken and rice casserole, using Tyson Grilled and Ready chicken breasts, is one of those dishes that I know I can always get to the table even when I am short on time.

A Glimpse: Learning a Second Language
I am excited to partner with Language Stars to share with your our goal for our children to learn at least one other language! This post has been compensated but all opinions are my own.
I guess we’ll call this a glimpse into something we find important to do as parents. Learning a second language is huge in our minds in helping our kids be well rounded in their education. Of course, tons of studies have shown that learning languages at a younger age leads to a high success at actually retaining the language for years to come. It is overall easier for a younger child to learn too than say and adult. Maya, our au pair, speaks German and we love for her to teach Hailey new words whenever she can.
For those that don’t have a language immersion program in their own home like we do, there are awesome programs like Language Stars.

A Balanced Lifestyle for 2014 #WowThatsGood
Balance…it is my word of the year. A more balanced lifestyle in every aspect is certainly something I am aiming for. BUT, I totally get that my responsibilities aren’t changing. I still have work, the blog, kid’s activities and a host of other items to do which makes the thought of grabbing food from the drive thru so appealing. Instead, I will be seeking out convenient things at the grocery story that will also help me make healthier choices.
