Hi there! I’m Christin, the gal behind the blog Blue Crab Martini where I dish up (mostly) healthy food, shake up creative cocktails, and give a glimpse into what life on the Chesapeake Bay is all about. I hope you stop by and visit me sometime! Today I’m so excited to be sharing this Chocolate Covered Strawberry Martini with you as my first contributor post here on Shannah’s beautiful blog!
Are you going out for Valentine’s Day this year?
If you’re like me, the answer is a definitive NO! Why? Because after spending the day chasing my two kids, attending sports practices, mopping the floors, cooking dinner, and trying to hold on to that last little ounce of sanity, there is absolutely no part of me that feels like getting dolled up and going out. No sparkly dress and 4” heels for me this year! Instead we’re planning a nice quiet evening at home.
Although it’s very likely that we’ll be wearing fuzzy slippers and spending the evening parked on the couch, that doesn’t mean the night can’t be romantic. Admit it, nothing is more romantic than snuggling up with those comfy fuzzy slippers… I mean, your husband!
In the long-gone days of venturing out on Valentine’s Day, we used to spend the evening eating a fancy dinner and sipping a few special drinks. It was our night to spend time together, just the two of us, with no distractions.
I’ll be doing my very best to recreate that special night at home this year. I’m putting together a delicious dinner of broiled lobster tails and oven roasted rosemary potatoes. Who knows, I might even get all fancy-pants and light a candle or two! After the kiddos are off to bed, we’ll settle down on the couch (with those fuzzy slippers, of course), and sip on one of these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Martinis.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to shake up a delicious drink to impress your special someone. I’m willing to bet that if you served them one of these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Martinis, they might even be willing to overlook that fact that you forgot to get them a card (oops)!
Each sip is packed with a sweet splash of rich chocolate and fresh strawberries. It’s like an adults-only version of a chocolate covered strawberry! Although it’s a dessert-style cocktail, it’s not overly sweet. And because it’s made with Godiva, it’s got Valentine’s Day written all over it!
Making this martini couldn’t be easier. All you need are a few fresh strawberries, Godiva liqueur, Bailey’s, vodka, and a little chocolate syrup. I chose to rim my glass with melted chocolate to add an extra special touch, although this is totally optional (but why on earth would you forgo more chocolate… splurge a little, it’s Valentine’s Day)!
I had so much fun sharing this post with you today, and I can’t wait to come back again next month! I hope your Valentine’s Day is filled with love, happiness, and of course… a little splash of booze. Cheers!
- 2-3 fresh strawberries, chopped and stems removed
- 2 oz Vodka
- 2 oz Godiva liqueur
- 1 oz Bailey’s Mudslide premium cocktail mix
- 2 TBS chocolate syrup
- For Optional Garnish: 1 additional strawberry and several chocolate chips melted (to rim the glass)
- In a martini shaker, combine the fresh strawberries, vodka, Godiva liqueur, Bailey’s, and chocolate syrup.
- Muddle together until the strawberries are broken down.
- Fill the shaker with ice and give it a few good shakes, making sure to combine all of the ingredients.
- Pour the drink mixture through a strainer into a chocolate rimmed glass.
- Garnish with a fresh strawberry. Cheers!
