I am thrilled to be working with Styled by Tori Jewelry and Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores on this post. While I have been compensated for this post, all thoughts, opinions and experiences shared here are my own.
This year, I decided I wanted to break out of my standard one necklace and wedding rings norm and start adding some fun jewelry to my daily outfits. So, I started buying jewelry from different places when I found pieces I liked. Well, that got expensive…FAST!
My next thought was to make my own jewelry but I had zero experience with that. The jewelry aisle in the craft store was so overwhelming and seemed to be really complicated. I pretty much ran out of there the first time I visited. Then, Styled by Tori Jewelery challenged me to create my own jewelry using their NEW line of gorgeous pieces. The best part: no tools required!
The summer line from Styled by Tori Jewelry is filled with different mix and match pieces. She makes it pretty easy to coordinate items by setting up different collections like Glam and Boho. Then, you can add on pieces to the basic items or make a set that includes earrings using the coordinated items within the collection. All of the items in the new collection use on trend colors and styles making anything you make look perfectly stylish.
Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts stores also features the booklet that explains how easy it is create your own jewelry and gives some really great ideas on pairing different pieces together.
I started by making an interchangeable necklace using pieces from the Boho collection. For my necklace, I used the following pieces:
– 1 choker top in the bronze color
– 1 set of S hook style connectors in bronze
– 2 necklace bottoms
– 1 jeweled pendant
The first step is to attach the S hook style connectors to each end of the necklace bottom. The connectors just slide right onto the circle on the end of the necklace so you don’t have open any of the little circles and then try to close them again.
From there, I attached one end of my choker top to the other part of the S hook.
When I was ready to put the necklace on, I attached the other side of the choker to the other S hook to “close” the necklace.
My favorite part about using the S hook style connectors was that I could easily change the necklace completely by just sliding a new bottom onto the hook.
I wanted to add a little something extra so I grabbed one of the pendants that was a part of the Boho collection and just slid it right onto the S hook that held my necklace bottom too.
I wasn’t kidding when I used the terms easy and no tools required. I even made a pair of earrings to match my necklaces simply by sliding the dangles onto the small bronze earring tops. The ring on the dangles fits perfectly into the small opening at the bottom of the earring top.
Time take to create a matching necklace and earrings for my day out: 10 minutes tops…most of that was actually choosing the pieces I wanted to use 🙂
Styled by Tori shares some really great ideas on how to create beautiful and unique jewelry pieces using the new line on different social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest so be sure to follow all three like I do.
