I created Halloween lanterns with the smaller lanterns I had purchased from Ikea. We have three steps down to the ground from our front porch so I had also purchased larger lanterns to go on the top step. I didn’t want all of the lanterns to be exactly the same and definitely wanted candles in the larger ones so it took me a few trips to Michael’s to get an idea of what I wanted.
The most difficult part was finding a candle that was large enough for the lantern.
Then, I purchased some black ribbon and two small owls to attach to the candle.
I wrapped the black ribbon around and pinned it to the candle with two small sewing pins. Once the ribbon was on, I clipped one owl to the front of each candle. The clip was on the bottom of the owl so I also secured him to the ribbon with a glue gun.
In to each lantern went a candle and owl and they fit perfectly! Once I put the candle in, it didn’t fill up enough space in the lantern so I shopped my house for other items to throw in there. I found some extra pumpkins like the ones I used in the smaller lanterns. I randomly threw all of that into the lanterns and called it a night.
The two little lanterns are going to look good together since those glittery pumpkins tie them in with each other.
I’m getting more excited for Halloween each day! Have you made any fun Halloween crafts yet?
