When my daughter was born, we were very cautious about getting her immunizations and chose to delay them from the traditional vaccine schedule so that she only received one shot per visit. The plan was the same for my little guy and that was suddenly thrown out at the window when he was six months old. I don’t talk about it much here but, at six months old, my little guy started having seizures. It is hard to imagine this little guy experiencing seizures every day while we worked hard to find a way to get them under control.
At that point, our entire world change and the plans we had went out the window. From that point on, because our little guy couldn’t receive any immunizations, it became vital for anyone in his life to be fully protected…especially the adults who don’t always think about their immunization needs. Even me…the one who is terrified of needles.
Luckily, staying up to date on our vaccines is super easy because the Walgreens in our neighborhood offers quick and easy adult immunizations.
Keeping my vaccines up to date ensures my son is at a much lower risk for catching a preventable disease that could threaten his way of life. I want him to have a childhood that is full of playgrounds, pools and carousels {some of his favorite things} instead of doctors and hospitals.
With vaccines from Walgreens…
Even more, Walgreens has partnered with the United Nations Foundation’s Shot at Life campaign. Until October 14, 2013 for every person who receives a flu shot or any immunization at Walgreens, they’ll help supply a life saving vaccine to a child in a developing country. With their ‘Get A Vaccine. Give A Vaccine’ program, Walgreens hopes to provide up to three million vaccines for life threatening diseases like measles and polio.
Are you up to date on your vaccines? How often to you check your immunization schedule to see if you are in need? Do you have someone in your life to protect through getting your adult vaccines?
You can find find out more about Walgreens vaccinations and their Shot at Life campaign by keeping up with them on Twitter and Facebook.
