School begins this month, and it is so hard to believe that summer break has essentially come and gone. We’ve started working through our school supply list, and I have been planning out lunches and snacks for each school day. My kids love snack mixes, so I always try to keep one or two on hand for them to pack in their lunch each day. We tend to make things like easy ranch snack mix that allows the kids to help put it together, which means they are even more likely to eat it!

I am a total sriracha addict. If the bottle wasn’t so large, I’d probably carry some in my purse wherever I went. They used to make a hot and spicy Chex Mix but I haven’t been able to find it for awhile now. So, I decided to make my own replacement for it and added a little bit of extra flavors too. Do you love ice cream? Who doesn’t, right?! I am a huge ice cream fan and haven’t really met many flavors that I don’t like. Anything with peanut butter in it is a winner for sure. I was trying to decide on a fun ice cream treat to make with my daughter and stumbled upon some Edy’s® Peanut Butter Cup Frozen Custard. Snacks. They are totally my weakness. I am almost always on the go so snacks tend to become my meals and meals never actually happen. I always look for snacks that are easy to carry along with me and taste great. If they have a little crunch and sweetness to them, like this triple berry granola, then the snack is a total winner.

I don’t think I’ve talked much about some of my recent changes in eating. I’ve cut out a lot bread and pasta items that I used to eat all the time. I still enjoy them from time to time but they don’t dominate my meals as much. Instead, I like to combine protein with fruits and vegetables whenever possible. It seems like I am always short on time so being able to have a few items on hand that I can grab on go is key. One of my newest favorite grab and go items are these turkey, apple and brie bites.

A few days ago, we talked about my love of snacking and I shared with you one my absolute favorite new snacks using pepper jack cheese wedges from The Laughing Cow®. Snacking can be a tricky thing though. It is so easy to hit the vending machine or grab the nearest bag of whatever chip that you walk by. I try to be much more mindful of my snack choices now that I know how much my kids mimic what I do. Choosing my snack choices more wisely not only helps me but also influences their food choices too. I love to snack! I could probably skip meals all together and just focus on snacking throughout the day if my family didn’t rely on me to provide them with meals. Easy Back to School Snack Ideas
