Delicious Recipes to Keep my Family of Four Happy and Full
Happy Thursday! After you are done checking out my Fall Porch Tour this morning, please be sure to come visit me over at See Vanessa Craft where I am part of the 20 Crafty Days of Halloween.
Halloween parties are so much fun! We host a pre-trick or treating party every year to get the kids together for dinner before heading out to get some candy. We’ve been doing it every year and I love the tradition. This year, I’m also part of a virtual Halloween party: A Ghost and Ghouls Gathering and I am sharing some kid friendly Halloween party food!

October has hit. Panic has set in at the Just Us Four house because the kids don’t have Halloween costumes picked out yet. Typically, we have our costumes in hand by early September so we get the pick of what is available. I am totally blaming PBK for this lapse in Halloween preparation since their catalog is usually what prompts me to order costumes. This year, I am thinking our late decisions on what to be will leave us with a lot less choices. So, like any good mom/blogger, I went cruising the interwebs and found 20 DIY Halloween costumes that could serve as back-ups…or first choices if DIY Halloween costumes are your thing! …
Starting in September, pumpkins explode on the scene. There is pumpkin food {examples here and here} and tons of pumpkin crafts. I don’t think any other item says fall quite like a pumpkin…well, except maybe a leaf. BUT, pumpkins are way more fun to craft with. You can spend hours looking around the web at different ways to decorate a pumpkin, make something into a pumpkin or sew a pumpkin. I’ve spent all that time searching for you though and gathered 25 amazing pumpkin crafts.

Each year, around mid-October, our neighborhood explodes with Halloween. Entire blocks transform from regular houses into spooky haunted houses or fun places covered in pumpkins and candy corn. We like to get a jump on all of this fun by making a few Halloween recipes and then Boo’ing our neighbors.

Halloween is one of those holidays where decorating can go in two very different directions. Some people focus on the spooky and scary {think lots of skeletons and black} while others go more for the fun, non-scary stuff {candy corn and pumpkins}. We have two young kids so you can guess which way we tend to lean. This year, H is getting to the age where she likes to really be involved in just about everything that I am doing. So, we decided to focus some of our Halloween crafts on things she could easily help with like this candy corn pennant banner.

I was never really into Halloween decorating until I moved into our current neighborhood. In our townhouse, we always put out pumpkins and passed out candy to any trick or treaters that came by. When we moved into our current house, all that just seemed to be way too low key considering all the decorating that was going on around us. So, slowly, we’ve been accumulating decorations at the after holiday sales to add to our collection. Of course, it helps if you can make some of your decorations too so I created this spooky eyeball wreath this year.

Artificial pumpkins are one of those craft items that you can do so many things with…carve, cover, paint, etc. The list really does go and on. Last year, I used some washi tape to decorate one for part of my Halloween decorations. This year, I decided to create some chalkboard paint pumpkins so my kids could decorate them over and over again between now and Halloween.
