Our local farmer’s market opened this past weekend. I was super psyched because it means warmer weather is here for awhile and I can get lots of fresh fruits and vegetables easily. I have the world’s worst black thumb. Until recently, the only plant I have been able to keep alive is a Christmas cactus that I was given as a gift when my grandfather died years ago. That changed recently when I purchased a hydroponic basil plant because they were out of regular basil. On a whim, I decided to plant it and it has been flourishing ever since. The more it grows, the more I realize that I need to find ways to use it and I collected 21 recipes with basil.

I love ceviche but don’t get the chance to eat it very often. I had been dreaming of it ever since we went on the Miami Culinary tour during Blogher Food so I dragged Mathlete to the Mexican place that I usually order it from. They have the most amazing shrimp ceviche. Well, #sadpandaface, they don’t have it anymore! The only ceviche they have has scallops and I really dislike scallops. So, I decided I was going to make it at home and made spicy tilapia ceviche for dinner one evening.

Weeknights are pretty busy for us in general but now that summer has hit, we seem to squeeze in even more. School ends this week and we’ve been in a summer state of mind since at least mid-May. Now, the kids hit the pool most afternoons and stroll in right as the dinner “bell” sounds.
