My son is pretty much obsessed with hot dogs right now. He wants them every.single.night. Of course, that gets a little boring for the rest of us so I’ve started adding in different items when I am cooking his hot dogs. One of our current favorite things {and it turns out E’s too} are grilled sausages. While cooking dinner the other night, I came up with these three ideas for sausage recipes.
Sausage is so easy to cook and we can add it to the grill or grill pan right next to anything else we are cooking. They cook pretty fast and are so delicious. I was visiting our nearby Giant store looking for another item and saw these new Hillshire Farm American Craft Sausages. They come in delicious flavors like Smoky Bourbon, Garlic and Onion and, our favorite, Jalapeno Cheddar. The American Craft links are hand crafted and have no nitrates or MSG which makes them a great choice and something I feel good about feeding my family.
I was so bummed that it started storming RIGHT as I was getting ready to grill our sausages but my trusty grill pan helped me out so we could have perfectly cooked sausage and still get our grill marks.
Once they were all cooked, we had a great time adding whatever toppings we each wanted. I had a Jalapeno Cheddar American Craft sausage and added cabbage slaw and Yum Yum sauce.
Some other great choices were blue cheese and tomatoes or jalapeno pickles and pepper jack cheese.
We loved the Jalapeno Cheddar version of the American Craft sausages and I am looking forward to giving the Smoky Bourbon one a try next. E seems eager to add sausage to his list of favorite foods after trying these {yep, he loved the spiciness in the jalapeno cheddar version!} and I am so glad to be branching out a little with him and foods he will eat.
What are some of your favorite things to cook on the grill? Do you like to have sausages with real ingredients like garlic or cheddar cheese added in to make them even more delicious? Yum yum sauce is a sauce you get in a lot of Japenese or Hibachi restaurants. You can find it in the Ethnic aisle at a lot of groceries stores too.

I love slaws on my sausage. But would never have though of feta cheese. I think that can work!
